Academic staff in Ouro Preto

On 26-30 June this year employees of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Rzeszów University of Technology PhD  Joanna Nizioł and prof. Tomasz Ruman paid a visit to Brazil at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto) under the Erasmus + KA107 Programme.


The visit started with a meeting with the UFOP authorities including prof. Cláudia Aparecida Marliére de Lima (Rector) and prof. Hermínio Arias Nalini Júnior (Vice-Rector) .They were presenting the research background and structure of the University and the conditions of education at both Universities and discussing possibilities of cooperation with the Rzeszow University of Technology. Information about the Rzeszow University of Technology and the presentation of the Faculty of Chemistry were performed by Tomasz Ruman, Professor of the Rzeszow University of Technology.


On the second day of the visit there was an inter-faculty seminar for employees and students of the university during which prof. Tomasz Ruman, gave a lecture on the “Nanoparticles for laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging of biological objects” The subject of PhD. Joanna Niziol’s lecture was "Chemistry and biochemistry of boron analogues and derivatives of nucleosides and nucleotides".  


Meetings with representatives of research teams of selected UFOP scientific units together with the presentation of research facilities of the Brazilian university took place in the following days. The leaders were prof. Katiane Nogueira and prof. Orlando Santos, whom the Rzeszow University of Technology had the pleasure of hosting in March this year.
A visit to Brazil was held under the Erasmus + KA107 programme with partner countries.
