In order to attract outstanding international students to come for short-term exchanges and scientific research, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) has specially set up the 2023 "Discover at HUST" International Summer School Program. The program is funded by China Link – International Summer School Scholarship Program of the Ministry of Education, China.
HUST is a key comprehensive university under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education. It is a participant university of the former “211” & “985” Project in China, and also one of the first universities approved under the national "Double First-Class" Initiative. HUST boasts a full range of academic disciplines. It has 11 disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary disciplines. In recent years, HUST has steadily improved its comprehensive strength, achieved remarkable results in discipline construction, and made itself visible by 27 national major scientific innovation platforms represented by Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO), Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center (WHMFC) and so on. According to the latest 2023 US NEWS and QS World University Rankings, HUST ranks 109th and 306th respectively in the world universities rankings. In the 2022 Shanghai Ranking of World Universities, HUST entered into top 100 in the world, ranking 96th.
